Luther Johnson's got a great vocal approach here – nice and raspy, as if it's taken him a lifetime to learn the lessons in his lyrics, and have some of the experiences he sings about too! The setting is in that great stripped-down, unadorned style used by the Black & Blue label at the time – and Luther gets some key help on the record from Willie Mabon on piano and Little Mac Simmons on harmonica – both of whom bring in just the right touches! There's also some second guitar work from Lonnie Brooks and Hubert Sumlin – each of whom get a few tracks on the set – and titles include "Hush Hush", "Little Queenie", "Jammin With Willie", "Please Don't Take My Baby Nowhere", and "Rock Me Slow & Easy".
